CIF 2020/19 Season and COVID 19
Due to the recent events with the COVID 19 Pandemic, CIF has announced that the 2020/21 basketball season will start in mid-March 2021. Of course, this can change depending on where we are at with state restrictions. As we receive information, we will pass it on to you.
We are currently in talks with CBOA in regards to registrations and fees for this season. We have informed them that we will be opening registration on January 5th, 2021.
With that being said, our staff knows and understands the hardship and suffering that this pandemic has caused everyone in our RCBOA family of officials, and around the world. RCBOA members will only be asked to pay a $50 deposit. We will only be accepting electronic payments until we have confirmed that we will have a 2020/21 season. If for whatever reason there is not 2020/21 season, your $50 deposit will be refunded back to you electronically. We do understand that some of you will not be able to sacrifice even $50, and that is OK. Please reach out to one of us and we will be more than happy to assist you in making sure that you will be apart of our roster of officials for the 2020/21 season
We will be having a ZOOM meeting on January 11th, 2021 to answer any and all questions you may have. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly by clicking here.
We are excited to offer an alternative high school basketball official's association that will be an additional unit of the CBOA (California Basketball Officials Association) which will provide officials to the schools within the Inland Empire that desire to see improvement through change.
The RCBOA (Riverside County Basketball Officials Association) is a newly developing organization being created to provide better trained and qualified officials and due to the increased growth to both schools and the membership of officials who service those schools in recent years. The RCBOA intends to offer itself as an alternative unit to the IBOA (Inland Basketball Officials Association).
The mission of the RCBOA is twofold, to provide better trained and educated officials, and to provide highly trained professional minded officials on each contest thus providing the best officials possible for the athletes, coaches, and school that we serve.
The RCBOA is dedicated to developing officials to the maximum potential of their capabilities and assigning officials based on their ability rather than on their tenure alone. The RCBOA sees this effort and success as one which has to partner with coaches/athletic directors who have been affected by the continued growth of the Inland Empire community at large, which adds schools yearly.
Basketball officiating, as in all officiating, is an ongoing learning process. Communication, administration, and training of the high school association are vital in maximizing the benefit to both the members of the unit, the fellow officials, and the athletes, coaches, and the athletic directors the unit serves.
